HOW WE REVIEW
Real research. Clear standards.
Clear recommendations start with clear evidence. We explain what we checked, what remains uncertain, and who a product may suit.
Illustrative image. Not a GoPolli facility or product test.
Independent
Recommendations, not commissions.
Evidence-based
Claims with source context.
Practical fit
Advice for the buyer’s needs.
Transparent
Limits kept visible.
From research to useful guidance
A clear framework for the evidence, comparisons, and limitations behind our recommendations.
01
Research
Start with manufacturer documentation and identify the exact product.
02
Verify
Separate supported facts from claims and unresolved information.
03
Compare
Explain practical strengths, limitations, and buyer fit.
04
Score
Show the rating’s context. Do not invent missing historical weights.
05
Update
Recheck changing information and correct or qualify errors.
What comparisons consider
Product facts and buyer fit are considered together. Criteria vary by category; there is no universal weighting.
Power source
Corded or cordless, with the intended use in view.
Blades & accessories
Compare the actual package, not an assumed kit.
Warranty
Keep manufacturer support information in its source context.
Buyer fit
Strengths and limitations alongside the intended use case.
A higher numerical score does not automatically make a product the right choice for every reader. Recommendations explain fit and tradeoffs alongside the score.
Know the basis of a review
Hands-on testing
A hands-on label requires actual physical testing by GoPolli, with the scope explained. Another organization’s testing is not GoPolli testing.
Research-based reviews
GoPolli’s current electric-fillet-knife guides are research-based. They draw on published documentation and source checks, not new physical testing by GoPolli. Research-based, hands-on, and mixed approaches should be identified accurately. Another organization’s testing is not GoPolli testing.
Our sources
Manufacturer documentation
Product pages and manuals establish identity, specifications, package details, warranty, and care guidance.
Evidence with context
Independent test results need attribution and an explanation of what was measured. Retailer information can provide package or time-qualified availability context.
When reliable sources disagree
Source disagreements are kept visible. In the Rapala review, the product page and manual give conflicting dishwasher-cleaning guidance. The article explains that conflict and follows the manual’s more conservative care advice. That specific decision is not a rule that every manual overrides every other source.
9.0 / 10
Illustrative score only
A ten-point display, not a new product assessment.
A score needs its context
Some historical scores are retained for continuity, but their original weighting cannot be reconstructed. GoPolli does not invent a missing formula or treat those scores as new laboratory results. A conversion to a ten-point scale preserves the original rating; it does not create new evidence. Current and future scoring should use documented criteria and an explained methodology.
Criteria may vary with the product and category; this is not a promise of one universal weighting formula.
Keep claims and evidence separate
A manufacturer’s performance comparison is identified as a manufacturer claim, not presented as a GoPolli measurement. Unsupported quantitative specifications are omitted or qualified. Missing information stays missing: a complete-looking comparison is not a reason to fill gaps with estimates.
Useful guidance stays open to correction
Rechecks & corrections
Model identity, specifications, packages, and support information can change. Where an article is rechecked, its source context and editorial review date help readers understand that snapshot; no fixed update schedule is promised. A factual correction should identify the claim and supporting evidence, then correct or qualify the affected passage rather than preserve unsupported certainty.
Independent judgment
GoPolli may earn commissions through affiliate links. Affiliate relationships do not determine recommendations: the editorial case rests on evidence, suitability, and limitations. A retailer link is not a promise of current price or stock. A public corrections contact method is awaiting configuration.
Better information. Smarter choices.
